Shadows of Giza

In the twilight of February 23rd, the travelers arrive in Giza as the relentless Egyptian sun begins to set. They walk across the long shadow of the great pyramid and enjoy the welcome coolness that its shade brings.

Perhaps – when our civilization falls, all the cars, all the airplanes, and the rusted rails of the Iron Age disappear – the pyramids will remain, and the colossi of Ramses will continue to thoughtfully gaze over the green gardens of the Nile into the endless desert.
